Masks - N95 Respirators - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    Main Menu

The following info is from the CDC.gov website...

    Using Facemasks or Respirators

  • Avoid close contact (less than about 6 feet away) with the sick person as much as possible.

  • If you must have close contact with the sick person (for example, hold a sick infant), spend the least amount of time possible in close contact and try to wear a facemask (for example, surgical mask) or N95 disposable respirator.

  • An N95 respirator that fits snugly on your face can filter out small particles that can be inhaled around the edges of a facemask, but compared with a facemask it is harder to breathe through an N95 mask for long periods of time. More information on facemasks and respirators can be found at www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/

  • Facemasks and respirators may be purchased at a pharmacy, building supply or hardware store.

  • Wear an N95 respirator if you help a sick person with respiratory treatments using a nebulizer or inhaler, as directed by their doctor. Respiratory treatments should be performed in a separate room away from common areas of the house when at all possible.

  • Used facemasks and N95 respirators should be taken off and placed immediately in the regular trash so they don't touch anything else.

  • Avoid re-using disposable facemasks and N95 respirators if possible. If a reusable fabric facemask is used, it should be laundered with normal laundry detergent and tumble-dried in a hot dryer.

  • After you take off a facemask or N95 respirator, clean your hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

    Seasonal Flu   VS   Pandemic Flu

There are some key differences in how
seasonal flu happens and how a pandemic flu happens.

    Seasonal FluPandemic Flu
Usually follows a predictable pattern, typically every year in the winter. There is usually some protection built up in a person from having the flu before.Doesn't happen often only three times in the 20th century. The last time was 1968. Since this new pandemic flu hasn't been seen before, there is no or little immunity.
Healthy adults are not usually at risk for any serious complications.Healthy people may be at risk for serious complications.
The medical community can usually meet public and patient needs. The medical community will be overwhelmed.
Vaccines are developed before the flu season, based on known virus strains.Vaccine developed early may not be effective. Once an effective vaccine is developed, it may not be available for several months.
Supplies of antiviral drugs are usually available.May not have any effective antiviral drugs or the supply may be limited.
Average number of deaths in the US is about 36,000 a year. The number of deaths would be much higher, worldwide it could be millions.
Regular flu symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose, and muscle pain.Symptoms would be more serious and there would be more medical complications.
A small impact on the community with sick people staying home from work and school.Big impact on the community. There could be travel restrictions, school closings, limited business hours or closings, and cancellation of public gatherings.
Small impact on US and world economy.Could have a big impact on US and world economy.

  • Chinese drywall links and information
Does your house smell like a rotten egg? Make sure you found all the Easter eggs and then check your drywall. It might be defective Chinese drywall. This funky drywall not only stinks up the place, it corrodes copper wiring, air conditioner coils and jewelry. It's so nasty that it actually destroys appliances and causes health problems according to people who live with it.

I love our government. Here we have drywall that is actually destroying home appliances and they have to run tests to determine if the stuff is a health hazard. Some of the test results released by the Florida Department of Health and Unified Engineering Inc. are a joke. They openly admit that various drywall samples were shipped together and may have contaminated one another. They say that more testing is needed. (Ya think?) How about doing one actual test based on scientific methods and standards. Please tell me that these bumbling fools will not be the last word regarding the safety of the people living in these contaminated homes.

One of the suspected manufacturers of this defective, Chinese-made drywall is Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin Co. LTD.. This company is a China-based subsidiary of its parent company Knauf. Knauf is a huge German company with manufacturing operations all around the globe.

Although the media probably hasn't told you this, Knauf has several multi-million dollar fiberglass insulation plants in the United States. Please remember these important facts if our government tries to bail-out Knauf with U.S. taxpayer money. If Knauf's drywall is defective they need to pay for the damage caused by their product.

Knauf's arrogant attitude of unaccountability in this matter really needs to be addressed. It's time that someone started "naming names". Here are a couple of names for you. The two characters that are ultimately responsible for the Knauf company and its products are Baldwin and Nikolaus Knauf. According to their website they work at Knauf headquarters in Iphofen, Germany.

Here's some contact information if anyone wants to ask for a refund on their stinky, Made-in-China, Knauf drywall...

    Baldwin and Nikolaus Knauf
    Knauf Gips KG
    Postfach 10
    D-97343 Iphofen, Germany
    Phone: +49 9323 31-0
    Fax: +49 9323 31-277
    web: http://www.knauf.de
    e-Mail: info@knauf.de

I don't know if there are laws regulating drywall, but I'm pretty sure there are laws against POISONING PEOPLE. Please Boycott all Knauf products.
